DES PLAINES, Ill. (STMW)– Authorities are investigating an apparent hit-and-run that left a Park Ridge man dead alongside a road in a wooded area near northwest suburban Des Plaines Monday night.
Ronald Bougan, 52, was found along Touhy Avenue east of the Tri-State Tollway, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. Bougan, of the 0 to 100 block of North Northwest Highway in Park Ridge, was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, but pronouncement information was not yet known.
That portion of Touhy Avenue runs though the Iroquois Woods.
Cook County Sheriff’s police were called to the area about 6 p.m. and found that his injuries were consistent with those of being hit by a car, spokesman Frank Bilecki said.
Anyone with information about the death is asked to call investigations at (708) 865-4896.
A bicyclist, who first thought it was a dead deer, saw the body 3 to 5 feet from the road and called police after realizing the body was human, Bilecki said.
Tracks from a vehicle were found in the area, but police have yet to learn if they were fresh or not, Bilecki said.
An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
