Illini Students Plan To Honor Groce At Home-Opener
(WSCR) When new Illinois basketball coach John Groce makes his debut for the Fighting Illini on Friday Night in Champaign, he'll be met with a rather quiet crowd.
That's because "Orange Krush," the student-body cheering section at Illinois, has asked the crowd to remain silent until the Illini score their 10th point of the game as part of the "Orange Hush," a tribute to Groce's alma mater Taylor University.
Each season, Taylor fans choose one game to remain silent at until the team scores its 10th point.
According to a news release, fans are encouraged to cheer after that point.
The Illini open their season Friday against Colgate at Assembly Hall.
