Police Warn Of Fake Officer In Car In McHenry County

CHICAGO (CBS) — If you drive through McHenry County, you’ll want to be aware of a warning coming from Sheriff’s Police about a man who is apparently impersonating a police officer.

Police say the man in a dark-colored car pulled a person over Monday night on Walkup Road near the Prairie Ridge High School using red and blue flashing visor lights.

Police say the man walked up to the driver’s car wearing civilian clothing, offered no badge or other identification, shouted at the driver, then got back in his car and quickly drove off.

Police say if you are fearful during a traffic stop, you should call 911.
