CHICAGO (CBS) — Just elected as DuPage County’s youngest board member, Laurie Nowak says she is looking forward to public service.
At 25, Laurie Nowak lives in Bartlett – in her parents’ home.
“I do live at home. For now.”
She says yesterday – two days after Election Day – was her father’s birthday.
“He was saying, ‘You already gave me the best birthday present.’ And he’s really proud. And my mom too.
“And actually my whole family was so supportive. And they really helped me because they were really working almost as hard as I was – and care a lot about this.”
As for her political ambitions – senator? Governor?
“No, I don’t think so. I’m pretty happy at this level. At least for the time being.”
Nowak will be one of three Democrats on the 18-member DuPage County Board.
