(WSCR) By now, we know Chiefs safety Eric Berry is an equinophobiac, meaning he’s deathly afraid of horses.

Now, however, we know exactly why he’s so afraid of horses. Well, sort of.

“I got chased by a pony when I was younger on a field trip,” Berry explained to a group of curious reporters. “Well, I don’t know if it was actually chasing me, but it came my way. I don’t know what his intentions were.”

Berry elaborated.

“In the open field, you just don’t know what a horse is thinking. Like, can you look at a horse and tell what a horse is thinking? Could it possibly kick you? Run you over? Bite you? I don’t know.

“I just have to stay away from them. I don’t like them, so I just stay away from them.”
