Plane With Ties To Illinois Crashes Near Milwaukee, 2 Dead

UPDATED: 11/19/2012 8:45 a.m.

BURLINGTON, Wis. (AP) — Authorities are investigating a plane crash that killed two people near the Burlington airport in southeastern Wisconsin.

The victims are identified as Todd Parfitt and his 14-year-old daughter, Nicole.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Lynn Lunsford says a single-engine Grumman AA1 crashed while trying to land just before 1:30 p.m. Sunday. He says local authorities told the FAA both people on board died.

Lunsford says the Burlington airport has no control tower, and the pilot was not in contact with air-traffic controllers when then plane went down in a cornfield. The plane is registered to an Antioch owner.

The spokesman says it wasn't immediately known where the flight began.

The National Transportation Safety Board will be in charge of the investigation and FAA investigators were en route Sunday evening.

Names of the victims have not been released.

The Walworth County sheriff's office says it will release more information Monday.
