(CBS) The Cubs agreed to a one-year deal with right-handed pitcher Scott Feldman Tuesday.
Feldman, 29, spent all or parts of the last eight seasons with the Texas Rangers, starting 101 games and appearing in 103 others. He went 39-44 with a 4.81 ERA in that span.
The right-hander spent the first three seasons of his career primarily as a relief pitcher, but transitioned to a start in 2008. He made 20 or more starts in four of the last five seasons, with 30 relief stints mixed in.
Feldman’s best season came in 2009 when he went 17-8 with a 4.08 ERA. The 6-7, 230 pound right-hander went 6-11 with a 5.09 ERA in 29 outings (21 starts) with the Rangers last season.
