CHICAGO (CBS)– A man has died after jumping into the Chicago River in the South Loop on Sunday morning.

A 911 caller saw the man jump from a bridge into the South Branch of the Chicago River in the 400 block of West Roosevelt Road, between Clark and Canal streets, according to police.

Police Marine Unit officers pulled him from the river and administered CPR until Chicago Fire Department paramedics took him in critical condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, according to police and Fire Media Affairs.
