There is still a charged smell as you get near the Terrace Place West Condominiums on 111th Street near Longwood Drive.

Chicago Fire Department Spokesman Larry Langford says investigators have not been able to safely enter the burned portion of the building to try to figure out how the three alarm fire began.

Nearly 50 people were left without a place to live.

"There is a lot of structural damage to the building," said Langford. "Floors are coming down on themselves. Our OFI investigators were trying to get a look closer to see what the cause and origin would be. However, it is just too dangerous to go in."

Langford says the front wing of the building is going to be torn down.
