(WSCR) This week’s Crap of the Week goes out to CBS Sports Minute champion Boomer Esiason.
This, from Larry-Dan in Rockford.
“In a recent CBS Sports Minute, Boomer Esiason stated the San Antonio Spurs should have been fined $500,000 instead of $250,000 for sending their players home instead of playing out the final game in a six-game road trip. He said, ‘Sports are entertainment. The players are entertainers. The show must go on for the fans.’ However, in 2007, Boomer Esiason stated, when asked if the Patriots would go undefeated with a final win against the playoff-bound New York Giants, ‘I do believe the Patriots will go undefeated, because the Giants have nothing to play for. I don’t think Tom Coughlin is going to risk anybody that might normally play in an all-hands-on-deck scenario. There’s no reason for them to even worry about that. Get the guys that need to be healthy, healthy, and don’t worry about this game. Because, for the Giants, it’s not about being an undefeated team.’ Boomer, which is it? Are professional athletes entertainers who need to play in every performance in which they’re able? Or, should coaches be setting the bar higher to extend their season into the playoffs? Next time you’re handed the text for a CBS Sports Minute, ask yourself, ho ya crappin?”
