CHICAGO (CBS) — A 23-year-old Evanston man was fatally shot in the head, his body left in a rear alley just north of Evanston High School.
Police found the body of Javar Bamberg in the 1700 block of Grey Avenue around 2 a.m. Wednesday.
He was dead on the scene, police said.
Evanston police detectives along with the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force are investigating the homicide.
Police believe Bamberg was specifically targeted as a result of an ongoing feud between two extended families that have ties to gang-related violence, according to a police news release.
Police officers have increased their presence in the neighborhood.
