Metra Train Fatally Strikes Man In North Suburb

MORTON GROVE (STMW) -- A Metra train fatally struck a man Friday night in north suburban Morton Grove, authorities said.

Marcial Lozada, 70, of the 2000 block of North Campbell Avenue, was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:30 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

As a result, trains travelling in both directions on Metra's Milwaukee District North Line were temporarily stopped, said agency spokesman Tom Miller.

A train heading toward Fox Lake from Chicago hit the person about 9:11 p.m., Miller said. The train, expected to arrive in Fox Lake at 10:09 p.m., saw a delay of up to an hour and a half, according to an alert posted on Metra's website.
