Burglar Helps Self To Cake, Watches TV, Turns On Tree Lights

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A would be burglar with a bit of the holiday spirit is now behind bars.

Daniel Bailey, 32, of Mokena ran out of gas, and then allegedly broke into a family's home in Troy Township.

Burglar With Too Much Holiday Cheer

Once inside, Will County Sheriff's police say he made himself comfortable while the family slept, allegedly eating a coffee cake, turning on the TV, playing a round of darts and plugging in the Christmas lights.

He also tried to steal gas for his car, according to Joliet Herald, before waking the family up.

They say Bailey also knocked on a bedroom door and family members found him sitting on the stairs petting their cat.

They called police who searched Bailey's car and discovered more food from the family's freezer and marijuana paraphernalia.

He's being held on $75,000 bond for residential burglary.
