Person Reported Killed In Accident On Route 83

LEMONT (STMW) -- DuPage County Sheriff's police have closed a portion of Route 83 following a fatal accident near southwest suburban Lemont.

The accident occurred about 3 p.m. near Route and 83 and Bluff Road, according to a statment from the sheriff's office. No details were available, but a sheriff's office spokeswoman said injuries were reported and one person was killed.

Information on the victim was being withheld pending notification of family.

All lanes of Route 83 are closed from Bluff Road to Archer in unincorporated Lemont, and it was unknown as of about 4:15 p.m. how long the closures would last.
