Police: Daughter Arrested In Mother's Stabbing Death In South Chicago

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 25-year-old woman was arrested early Sunday, suspected of fatally stabbing her mother during a domestic dispute in the South Chicago neighborhood.

Authorities found the 55-year-old mother had been stabbed multiple times when they responded to her home in the 8300 block of South Kingston Avenue about 6:45 p.m. Saturday night, authorities said.

Paramedics took Angela Welch to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 7:26 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Her daughter, a suspect in the slaying, initially fled but was taken into police custody early Sunday, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said. Charges are pending against the 25-year-old woman.

Area South detectives are investigating the death as a homicide.
