CHICAGO (STMW) – A group of young women have been haling taxis in the Loop, then robbing the drivers after being driven to the South Side, according to Chicago Police.

In two reported incidents in the last 10 days, the group of young women, black females between 16 and 20, enter cabs in the downtown area and ask for a ride to the South Side, according to an alert issued Wednesday by police.

The destinations have been the 4700 block of South King Drive and the 4800 block of South Forrestville, and when the cabs get there, the women rob the cabbie with a knife and a rope-type “cord,” police said.

They wrap the cord around the driver’s neck, take his money, then run away. cab afterward.

The only additional description of the offenders is that they have light complexions.

Anyone with information should call Area Central detectives at (312) 747-8380.
