2 Teens Shot, 1 Critically Hurt In Avalon Park

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A drive-by shooting wounded two teen boys Friday night in the South Side Avalon Park neighborhood. The younger boy, 15, remains in critical condition.

They were walking down the sidewalk in the 8400 block of South Constance Avenue about 9:45 p.m. when a light-colored car pulled up and someone inside opened fire, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.

The younger boy, 15, was shot in the chest, Greer said. Paramedics took him to University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital in critical condition.

Another boy, 16, suffered a graze wound to the back, and is in good condition at Jackson Park Hospital, Greer said.

No one is in custody, and police are still searching for a motive as of early Saturday. Area South detectives are investigating.
