Police Warn Of Douglas Area Robberies

(STMW) -- Police are warning Douglas neighborhood residents of an increase in robberies this month on the South Side.

Two to four men approach the victims and take their property by force, according to an alert from Area Central detectives. All three robberies happened near East 35th Street between South Michigan and South Cottage Grove avenues.

The robbers are described as 5-feet-5 to 6-feet black men in their late-teens or early 20s, police said. One man wears a black, hooded, waist-length jacket with an unidentified insignia on the left chest, a "Chicago" baseball cap and black and white athletic shoes.

Anyone with information about the robbers should call Area Central detectives at (312) 747-8380.
