City Still Searching For Owner Of Dog Rescued From Ice

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The city is still trying to find the owner of the dog that had to be rescued off the ice in Jackson Harbor this week.

The one-year old German Shepherd mix continues to be cared for at the Chicago Animal Care and Control facility on 27th Street and Western Avenue.

An Animal Care and Control official told Newsradio there have been people who've called about the dog. Some want to rescue it, while others have said the dog looks like one they lost.

One official said the city is sorting through claims, and investigating in the hopes of finding the owner.

It's believed that, because the dog was in such good condition when he was brought in the other day, someone owns and has cared for it.

Still, the dog was not wearing a collar when rescued off the ice Tuesday morning.
