Two Men Shot To Death In Second Double-Homicide Of The Day

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two men were killed on the West Side Thursday afternoon in the Chicago's second double-homicide shooting of the day.

Officers called to the 4200 block of West Congress Parkway found the two males dead in the street from gunshot wounds to the head about 4:15 p.m. in the West Garfield Park neighborhood, police said

One of the deceased is a man believed to be in his 30's, the other is a male believed to be in his teens, said police News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien. Both were dead when authorities arrived on the scene.

An official at the Cook County Medical Examiner's office confirmed that the two died.

No one was in custody as Area North detectives investigated.

About 12 hours earlier, two men were killed and another was wounded when a masked gunman walked up to them outside a Bridgeport neighborhood hamburger stand early Saturday and unleashed a barrage of bullets.

The shooting happened about 4 a.m. in the 500 block of West Pershing Road, outside Kevin's Hamburger Heaven.

The restaurant had customers inside, but the three men, all believed to be in their 40s, had gone outside to smoke as they waited for an order of food, sources said. While outside, a man in a mask ran up to them, opening fire at close range. He then fled the scene on foot, according to police.

The two men were dead when police arrived on the scene; the third man was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County with gunshot wounds to an arm and his abdomen, police said.

No one is in custody for that shooting either, police said.
