(CBS) When the Illini fans return to Memorial Stadium in the fall, they'll be treated to brand new video and sound upgrades that include a large video board in the South end of the stadium.

The new Daktronics video board is 36 feet tall by 96 feet wide.

"We are excited to be working with Daktronics to enhance the video display and sound system at Memorial Stadium," UI Director of Athletics Mike Thomas said. "The new boards will bring HD quality video to our fans and will greatly enhance the game-day atmosphere. In addition, our video displays and added ribbon boards will now be visible by almost every seat in the stadium and will allow us to provide more statistics, out-of-town scores and event information to everyone in attendance."

The video board won't be the only addition, however. Directly below the board will be a new scoreboard and a supplemental ribbon display that will measure over 50 feet wide. A new scoreboard will also be installed in the north end without the video display.

In addition, two LED ribbon displays will be installed on the fascia between the seating decks that stretch the length of the field. There will be one on each side of the field. These displays will each measure more 420 feet in length.

The improvements also include a new Daktronics sound system in Memorial Stadium
