PORTAGE, Ind. (CBS) -- Police serving a warrant to a resident of the 3300 block of Sunnybrook Street found four adults smoking marijuana in the living room while a 3-year-old was locked in a bathroom down the hall.

A large jar of marijuana, seemingly packaged for sale, also was in the house, as well as a loaded AR-15 assault rifle, a machete sticking out between mattresses, and evidence of affiliation with the Invaders Motorcycle Gang, according to Portage police.

The police department and its SWAT team raided the home at 8:46 p.m. Wednesday to serve a warrant to resident Frank Quarles, 26. He was wanted on a Class C felony charge for drug dealing, police said.

Child Protective Services took the child. Portage Animal Control removed multiple animals.

Portage Police Chief Troy Williams said the raid of the "active drug house" should "serve notice to others that if you allow or participate in this type of criminal activity, you too can expect a similar response."

Quarles faces three new Class D felony charges — maintaining a common nuisance, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a controlled substance — and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Another resident of the home, Kira Sheeman, 21, was charged with three felonies — possession of a controlled substance, neglect of a dependent and maintaining a common nuisance — and misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Sheeman's mother, Tina Rodriguez, 45, of Portage, was charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana and visiting a common nuisance. Eric Loeffler, 26, of Portage, was arrested for visiting a common nuisance.
