Man Shot Dead In Gage Park Neighborhood

(STMW) — A man was shot dead Thursday evening in the Gage Park neighborhood.

The man was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the left side about 5 p.m. in the 2300 block of West 50th Street, police said.

The man – identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office as 19-year-old Sergio Mora — was initially taken in serious condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, police said.

Mora, of the 4900 block of South Winchester Avenue, was declared dead at 5:59 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.

Preliminary information indicates Mora suffered multiple gunshot wounds, the medical examiner’s office said. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.

Area Central detectives are investigating, but nobody is in custody.
