Cops: Video Shows Man Displaying Gun In Bolingbrook High School

BOLINGBROOK, Ill. (STMW) -- A southwest suburban man was arrested this week after a surveillance video showed him holding a gun in a stairwell at Bolingbrook High School after school let out for the day, police said.

Tyron Hughes, 18, of 537 Cottonwood in Bolingbrook, was arrested on charges of aggravated battery, unlawful use of a weapon, obstructing/resisting and criminal trespass, according to a news release from the Bolingbrook Police Department.

The incident happened at 2:11 p.m. Tuesday after school. Hughes entered the high school but fled after security and Bolingbrook police officers approached him, according to the release.

Police could not find him Tuesday night, the release said. The next day, authorities reviewed video of the incident and spotted Hughes holding the gun in a stairwell.

They found him at his home at 10:49 a.m. and arrested him. The incident remains under investigation.
