CHICAGO (STMW) – Two men were killed and at least five other people were wounded in weekend gun violence in Chicago.

Ricardo Rivera, 31, was fatally shot in the head 7:30 a.m. Sunday in the 100 block of South Cicero Avenue, authorities said. Rivera, of the 4900 block of West 23rd Place in Cicero, was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:35 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

Donald Price, 32, was fatally shot Saturday in the same block as his West Side home, in the 4800 block of West Ferdinand Street, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

An unknown shooter walked out from a vacant lot about 5:45 p.m. Saturday and shot the man in the face, neck, torso and right arm, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.

Price was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died roughly half an hour later, authorities said. Police believe the Austin neighborhood slaying was gang-related.

The most recent non-fatal shooting happened about 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the 7000 block of South Merrill Avenue in the South Shore neighborhood.

An 18-year-old man was shot in the abdomen and right arm and was initially taken in serious condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, but his condition has since stabilized, police said.

About 12:30 a.m. Sunday, a 17-year-old boy was wounded in a shooting in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side.

He was walking on the sidewalk when a group of males approached and shot him near 69th and State streets, Alfaro said.

Before that, two shootings on the Far South Side wounded three people within a 40-minute period Saturday night.

In the Morgan Park neighborhood, an 18-year-old man was shot about 10:10 p.m. near South Aberdeen Street and West 111th Street, police said. As he walked down a sidewalk, a man emerged from a dark-colored sport utility vehicle and opened fire.

The man was taken in “stable” condition to Advocate Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn for treatment of a gunshot wound to the buttocks, police said.

About 9:30 p.m., two people were walking down the sidewalk in the 0-to-100 block of West 108th Place, in the Roseland neighborhood, when a man approached them, and opened fire, police said.

The attack left a 15-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to the left leg, police said. He was taken to and taken to Roseland Community Hospital in “stable” condition.

The second person hurt, a 20-year-old man, shot in the buttocks and knee, police said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, also in “stable” condition.

No arrests have been made in connection with any of the shootings Sunday, as detectives continue to investigate the attacks.
