(CBS) Prior to the White Sox’s matchup against Team USA on Tuesday, the club announced its first cuts of spring training.

The team optioned left-handed pitcher Charlie Leesman to Triple-A Charlotte and sent catchers Michael Blanke and Kevan Smith, infielders Andy Wilkins and Tyler Saladino and pitcher Jacob Petricka to minor league camp.

With the six cuts, the White Sox now have 55 players in camp, including 28 pitchers.
