Report: Yankees Ask Derrek Lee To Come Out Of Retirement

(CBS) As the Yankees continue their search to replace first baseman Mark Teixeira, the team has reportedly asked former Cubs first baseman Derrek Lee to come out of retirement.

According to a report from the New York Times, no deal is pending, but talks are ongoing.

Lee, 37 last played in 2011, when he split time between the Pirates and Orioles. He hit .267 with 19 home runs in 113 games.

Teixeira strained a tendon in his right wrist and is expected to miss roughly two months.
