Not much can take away the pain of losing a family member, but Michele Obama has reached out to the family of 15-year-old Hadiya Pendleton.

The First Lady attended the teen's funeral and invited her mother and father to the State of the Union speech last month.

Now Cleopatra Cowley-Pendleton and her 10-year-old son, Nathanial, have accepted the invitation to the Easter celebration at the White House April 1st.

Hadiya, an honors students, was shot to death in a North Kenwood park a short drive from the president's home. Hadiya, who was taking shelter from the rain, was the unintended target of a retaliatory gang shooting.

Two men have been charged with her murder.
