Man Charged With Killing, Robbing Cabbie On South Side

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 28-year-old man has been charged with killing and robbing a cab driver in the Princeton Park neighborhood last week.

Eric Taylor, of the 8500 block of South Parnell Avenue, has been charged with one count each of first-degree murder and armed robbery with a firearm, police said.

On March 14, a cab driver picked up Taylor and another man outside Taylor's home around 5:45 p.m.

The two men quickly demanded the driver's possessions. After driving for about a mile, one of the two men shot the cab driver, 48-year-old Edwin Obazuaye of South Holland, near 91st Street and Lafayette Avenue.

Taylor and his companion fled on foot, after taking Obazuaye's cell phone. Police could not say if the second attacker was arrested.

Taylor was due in bond court on Friday.
