Easter Bunny Visits La Rabida Children's Hospital

CHICAGO (CBS) -- La Rabida Children's Hospital welcomed the Easter Bunny today.

You could hear the crinkling of cellophane as the Easter Bunny handed over 30 Easter baskets, going room to room.

"Happy Easter!"

"He was wonderful," said Kia Douglas, who watched as the Easter Bunny chatted with her son Kahlil, who'll be one next month.

She says she hadn't planned anything really for Easter.

"I'm unemployed right now so... I work little side jobs here and there. We really didn't have anything planned."

The Easter Bunny - also known as La Rabida Board Member Allen Kutchins - has been doing this for three years.

"It's a lot of fun. The kids get excited. Hopefully I didn't scare too many this year."

Certainly not Kahlil.

"Kahlil's normally not scared of pretty much anything. Not even vacuum cleaners. He was just looking amazed. He didn't know what was going on, actually."

The good news is - not only does Kahlil have an Easter basket - but he gets to go home from the hospital.

The Easter baskets were all donated by the same family, based in the Chicago area. Anthony Ramsey and his cousin Sherri Thomas dropped off the baskets - so the Easter Bunny could deliver them.
