CHICAGO (STMW) — One person was killed and two others were injured in a crash early Sunday on the Bishop Ford Expressway on the Far South Side, state police said.
The two-vehicle crash happened about 3:32 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the expressway (I-94) near 111th Street, Illinois State Police Master Jeanette Sergeant Beck said.
One person was dead on the scene, Beck said. Two others were taken to Roseland Community Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the fatality.
Alcohol is thought to be a factor in the crash, Illinois State Police said in a release.
All lanes in both directions were closed near the scene of the accident as of 6:30 a.m. as state police investigated.
