Roger Ebert Being Treated Again For Cancer

CHICAGO (CBS) -- He's calling it a "leave of presence".

Ebert Treated For Cancer

Famed movie critic Roger Ebert has decided to step back from some of his duties because of a recurrence of cancer and radiation treatment.

In his blog, he writes
, "The painful fracture that made it difficult for me to walk has recently been revealed to be a cancer.

"It is being treated with radiation, which has made it impossible for me to attend as many movies as I used to."

Ebert is 70.

He took on the job as film critic for the Sun Times, 46 years ago today.

"What in the world is a leave of presence?" Ebert wrote. "It means I am not going away. My intent is to continue to write selected reviews but to leave the rest to a talented team of writers handpicked and greatly admired by me."
