CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 14-year-old boy was fatally wounded Sunday afternoon during a West Side drive-by shooting that police believe was gang-related.

The shooting happened about 4:30 p.m. in the 2200 block of South Leavitt Street, police News Affairs Officer Joshua Purkiss said.

Michael Orozco was shot in the chest and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died at 4:56 p.m., authorities said.

Police on the scene radioed a description of the gunman's vehicle and nearby officers found a vehicle matching the description, taking three males into custody, police said. A weapon was recovered.

Police said the suspects and the victim are documented gang members.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
