Conservative Protesters Demand Republican Chairman Brady Resign

TINLEY PARK, Ill. (CBS) -- A motion to oust Pat Brady as State Republican Chairman never came to a vote at a meeting of the Illinois GOP Central Committee in Tinley Park. That left a lot of hardcore conservative Republicans angry.

WBBM's Bob Roberts spoke with Brady after the meeting.

Those unhappy with Brady much such a fuss that police were called and the hallway outside the meeting was cleared for more than an hour as the committee meet in closed session.

Afterward, open session questions quickly degenerated into shouting and Brady insisted he is not on frosty terms with Jim Oberweis, even though Oberweis left appearing unhappy.

"I am not on his speed-dial anymore so I don't know what he thought but we had a very good discussion with Jim today," said Brady. "I think it outs it to bed."

Brady won't stay for long though. He says when his term is up in three more meetings he will step aside and says a succession plan is in the works.
