Brookfield Zoo Closes Because Of Flooding

(CBS) – The Brookfield Zoo will remain closed Friday due to flooding inside and around the zoo.

It's only the third time in the zoo's history it has closed, the Chicago Zoological Society said in a news release. The other two occasions were a snow storm on Feb. 2, 2011 and on Sept. 14, 2008, because of damage from a weekend rainstorm.

The animals are doing fine, zoo directors said, and the zoo will have staff on site to continue to look after them.
