CHICAGO (CBS) — There could be delays at O’Hare and other major airports when a furlough of air traffic controllers kicks in this Sunday.
The 10 percent cut in staff is required under the so-called automatic “sequestration” budget cuts.
Federal Aviation Administrator Michael Huerta and Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood are vowing to ensure the continued safety of air travel–despite the budget constraints.
Delays at O’Hare are estimated to go as high as 2 hours, with an average of over 50 minutes.
