Man Wounded In Greater Grand Crossing Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man standing on a street corner in the South Side Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood was wounded Saturday afternoon when someone jumped out of a vehicle and opened fire on him, police said.

About 12:48 p.m., the 25-year-old victim was standing on the street corner in the 6700 block of South Langeley Avenue when a vehicle pulled up, a passenger jumped out, and opened fire, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.

The victim was wounded in the buttocks and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Mirabelli said. His exact condition was not immediately available, but according to police the victim was alert and talking when he was taken to the hospital.
