Quinn Declares Four More Illinois Counties Disaster Areas

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Governor Quinn has declared flood disasters in four additional Illinois counties. WBBM's Bob Roberts reports that the work of assessing damage is still far from over.

Quinn Declares Four More Illinois Counties Disaster Areas

Knox, Douglas, Livingston and McDonough counties bring the number of declared flood disaster to 42 counties and while water is receding in much of the Chicago area, pressure continues to build on portions of the Fox and Illinois rivers as well as the Mississippi.

Even with those waters rising, Quinn says he has never seen anything quite like it.

"You have to account for all the damage and the clean-up costs and they are enormous. I went through a flood in '73 and '93 and several in this century, but nothing like this because this is so pervasive and widespread across so many parts of Illinois," said Quinn.

To make the case as persuasively as possible, he is asking both government and individuals to save every possible receipt for clean up, repair and replacement.
