3 Killed, 13 Wounded In Weekend Gun Violence

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Three people have been killed and at least 13 others wounded in gun violence throughout the city since Friday afternoon.

Donald Holman, 37, was shot three times in the legs about 7:45 p.m. Friday in the 1100 block of North Menard Avenue, authorities said.

He was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where he died at 8:21 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Lucas Zimmerman, 34, was found unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds in a convenience store parking lot in the 3900 block of North Kimball Avenue at about 12:10 a.m. Saturday.

Witnesses told police Zimmerman was shot in an alley in the 3300 block of West Irving Park Road before stumbling to the parking lot, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said. He was shot in the arm and face, Alfaro added. Zimmerman was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:25 a.m.

A male was shot to death in the 1700 block of West 44th Street about 4:49 a.m. Monday in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, police said.

He was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in critical condition, but died shortly thereafter, police said. The Cook County Medical Examiner's office confirmed the death, though the male's identity was withheld until his family could be notified.

At least 13 other people were wounded in gun violence throughout the city this weekend.

The most recent non-fatal shooting happened about 6:12 p.m. Sunday, when two men were shot in the Calumet Heights neighborhood. Both men were shot multiple times in the 9000 block of South Kingston Avenue, police said. They were both taken in "stable" condition to Advocate Trinity Hospital.

About noon Sunday, a female with a gunshot wound to the leg walked into Saint Anthony Hospital, where was listed in good condition, police said. The female told police she was shot in the 2600 block of South Kedvale Avenue in the Lawndale neighborhood.

About 3:19 a.m. Sunday, a man was shot in the back in the 3500 block of North Sheffield Avenue in the Wrigleyville neighborhood. He was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, police said.

A male was shot in the leg just before 3 a.m. Sunday in the 2800 block of West Monroe Street in the East Garfield Park neighborhood, police said. He was taken to an area hospital in fair condition, police said.

A 52-year-old man was shot in the 1700 block of West 83rd Street in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood at about 10:10 p.m. Saturday. Police said the man suffered gunshot wounds to the head and torso and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

About 4 p.m. Saturday, a 27-year-old man was shot in the wrist and leg in the 4000 block of West School Street in the Kilbourn Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side, police said. He was hospitalized at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

An 18-year-old man was shot in the mid-section at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the 6200 block of South Maplewood Avenue of the South Side Chicago Lawn neighborhood, police said.

A gunman approached a 29-year-old man and opened fire in the 5800 block of South Michigan Avenue of the South Side Washington Park neighborhood at 1:20 p.m., police said. The man was listed in "stable" condition at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County with multiple gunshot wounds.

At 12:48 p.m. on Saturday when a man standing on a street corner in the South Side Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood was wounded when someone jumped out of a vehicle and opened fire on him, police said.

The 25-year-old victim was standing on the street corner in the 6700 block of South Langley Avenue when a vehicle pulled up, a passenger jumped out, and opened fire, police said.

The victim was wounded in the buttocks and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police said. His exact condition was not immediately available, but according to police the victim was alert and talking when he was taken to the hospital.

At 4:45 p.m. on Friday, a 28-year-old man was shot in the ankle in the 9600 block of South Peoria Street. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in good condition, police said.

About 15 minutes earlier a 28-year-old man was shot in the leg in the 7900 block of South State Street, police said.

He was taken in good condition to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center.

About 2 p.m. Friday a 30-year-old man was hospitalized after being shot in the leg in the 6700 block of South Throop Street, police said. He was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center in good condition.
