Woman Robs Edgewater Bank

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A woman robbed an Edgewater bank Friday afternoon on the North Side.

The woman approached a teller at a bank in the 5300 block of North Broadway, said she had a gun and demanded money, police News Affairs Officer Joshua Purkiss said. The FBI identified the bank as a TCF Bank branch.

The woman never showed a weapon, and the teller gave her about $900, police said.

The FBI described the woman as a 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-7 black woman with dark skin. She is about 35 years old and was wearing a light colored bandana on her head and red shoes.

A reward is being offered for information leading to her arrest and conviction. Anyone with information should call the FBI Chicago office at (312) 421-6700.

The FBI and Area North detectives are investigating.
