1 Dead, 1 Critically Hurt In West Town Shooting
CHICAGO (STMW) -- One man was killed and another person was hurt in a shooting in the West Town neighborhood Sunday morning.
The shooting happened at 6:04 a.m. near Division Street and Campbell Avenue, leaving one person fatally shot in the head, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said, citing preliminary information.
A 36-year-old man was killed in the shooting and was pronounced dead about half an hour later at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, according to a spokeswoman for the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
The man's identity was withheld pending notification of family.
Fire Media Affairs said a second person was wounded in the shooting and that both people shot were taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition. However, police could not immediately confirm that a second person was shot.
Details on the circumstances surrounding the shooting were not immediately available as area detectives investigate.
