Teen Arrested For Molesting Girls On Red Line Train

Updated 05/03/13 - 12:34 p.m.

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police have arrested a teenager suspected of molesting underage girls on a CTA Red Line train last month.

A 17-year-old boy was charged as a juvenile Friday with three misdemeanor counts of battery in connection with the incident, which occurred around 7 a.m. on April 11 at the Belmont and Wilson stops on the Red Line.

The young man allegedly approached two separate juvenile girls and touched their legs inappropriately, while attempting to place his arms around them, according to police. Both girls exited the train and the man fled.

Before the arrest, members of the Guardian Angels had passed out flyers with the suspect's picture to commuters at a North side L stop, but it was not immediately clear if a tip from the flyers led to an arrest in the case.

Red Line Molester Warning

The group was passing out both large and palm-sized flyers at the CTA Red Line Belmont station. The large flyer has big red lettering that reads, "RED LINE MOLESTER WANTED."
