(CBS) Hidden behind the angst and anger surrounding Derrick Rose’s decision not to play thus far in the depleted Bulls’ playoff run was the hope that maybe No. 1 would suit up when the time was right to lead his team.

Now, according to a report from Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski, fans pining for that dream should keep dreaming.

Citing sources with “direct knowledge” of the situation, Wojnarowski reports Rose’s decision has been made and the former MVP of the league is done for the season.

Here’s the latest from Wojnarowski:

For the good of his franchise and fans, for everyone’s focus to be where it should belong now – Bulls-Heat, Game 1 on Monday – Rose needs to drop the illusion that his return in these playoffs remains a consideration.

“Who knows?” Rose told reporters hours on Saturday. “It’s still up in the air.”

Who knows? Derrick Rose knows. His choice has been made to sit out the season and it includes no provisions for turning back, sources with direct knowledge told Yahoo! Sports.
