(CBS) New Bears head coach Marc Trestman has been known to be an offensive innovator - and that's exactly what he's doing with his team's offense.

During the Bears rookie minicamp over the weekend, quarterback Matt Blanchard wore a tiny "helmet cam" mounted to the left side of his helmet.

The camera is designed to give coaches an alternate look at what exactly the quarterback sees as a play develops.

"Really haven't even looked at it," Trestman told the Tribune on Sunday. "We've got it in our system right now. We really haven't spent any time evaluating what we would get out of it or what we have gotten out of it. It was fun to do it. I peeked at it but I really didn't study it. We'll see what unfolds this week and what we think we can do with it or move it around -- could we put it on the top of the helmet as opposed to the side of a helmet? It's kind of fun. It's not a major part of our focus. I think it's taken on a little bit of a life of its own. I don't know that it deserves that much attention."
