Powerball Jackpot At $600 Million: Most Common Numbers

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The Powerball jackpot was increased Friday to $600 million, making it the largest Powerball jackpot ever.

The estimated cash value for this jackpot is $376.9 million.

The Powerball jackpot has rolled a total of 12 times; climbing since March 30, when a Lottery player in Freeport, Illinois won a $50 million jackpot.

The largest jackpot ever was a $656 million Mega Millions jackpot from March 30, 2012. That jackpot saw three winners split the prize, including one winner from Red Bud, Ill.

According to usamega.com, the most common numbers drawn in the past 100 drawings are: 03, 23, 26, 36, 56. Those five numbers have been drawn between 13 and 15 times each.

The most common Powerball numbers during that time are 29, 16, 20. Those numbers have been chosen seven or six times each.

If you are looking for the least-common numbers, under the theory that those numbers are overdue, they are: 47, 37, 33, 24, 02. Powerball: 08 (last drawn in September, 2012)

But keep in mind, playing these numbers do not change your odds. Whether you choose your own numbers or play a quick pick, the odds are still 1 in 175,223,510 that you'll collect on the jackpot.

The odds of sharing the prize are more likely as more people play the game.

After you pay 25 percent federal taxes, plus state taxes, your lump sum payout in Illinois would be $263.8 million. In Indiana, you'd collect about $269.9 million, thanks to a lower state income tax rate.
