CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was critically injured after attempting to jump from the window of a hospital Tuesday in the South Side Englewood neighborhood.

The suicidal man attempted to jump from the third floor of St. Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center at 326 W. 64th Street about 11:40 p.m., police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada said.

The 34-year-old hospital patient suffered lacerations to both arms and had to be restrained after breaking a window, Estrada said.

He was taken in critical condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County for his injuries, according to Fire Media Affairs. He may also undergo a psychiatric evaluation, Estrada said.
