Police Warn Of Smart Phone Thefts In Bronzeville

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police are seeking two teenaged thieves, who allegedly stole smart phones twice in the past week on or near 35th Street in the Bronzeville neighborhood, near the IIT campus.

Police News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien said the first theft occurred at about 9:30 a.m. Friday on 35th Street, between the Metra and CTA Green Line stations. He said that the second theft occurred at roughly 3:15 p.m. Monday, on State Street near 35th Street.

In both cases, the thieves were said to be a pair of teens between 13 and 18 years of age. Each is between 5'5" and 5'7" tall and weighs 140 to 180 pounds.

Police urged people in the area to be aware of their surroundings, remain calm if confronted, remember any unique physical characteristics, such as scars, tattoos, missing teeth, or a limp.
