Serial Robber Hits GameStop Locations

(CBS) – Police are hunting for a serial robber who seems to be focused on a very specific target.

CBS 2's Mike Puccinelli reports.

GameStop has become a favorite stop for the armed robber. Cook County Crimestoppers Chairman George McDade says the suspect may have been involved in 10 armed robberies at the chain's stores.

Most recently, the suspect hit a store on Cottage Grove in Chicago for the third time, on May 12. The robbery was caught on tape, and police released a surveillance image of the gunman.

Over the past six years, investigators believe the gunman has hit stores in Chicago, Calumet City, Evergreen Park, Oakbrook Terrace, North Riverside, Berwyn and Munster, Ind.

McDade says after the robber empties the cash register and helps himself to games and other valuables he does something unusual.

"He apologizes," he says.

Still, the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.

"He has to be taken off the street. He has to be held accountable for the crimes before something serious happens," McDade says.

GameStop officials are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest. If you have a tip, call Crimestoppers at 1-800-535-STOP.
