(STMW) — A fire at a senior citizen high-rise in the West Side Lawndale neighborhood left an elderly woman critically injured Friday afternoon.

The still and box alarm at Albany Terrace Apartments at 3030 W. 21st Pl. was struck out by 2 p.m., according to Fire Media Affairs.

Some residents fled the building, but a 67-year-old woman suffered smoke inhalation and was hospitalized in critical condition, Fire Media said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
