(CBS) In a blow to their bullpen, Cubs reliever Kyuji Fujikawa will undergo Tommy John surgery on his right elbow.

The 32-year-old Japan native will miss the rest of the 2013 season. There is no timetable for his return.

Fujikawa injured his elbow during Sunday’s 10-inning win over the Reds. He said he heard a popping sounds while throwing a pitch.

“I went all out. I have no regrets,” Fujikawa said.

Fujikawa is in the first year year of a two-year, $9.5 million deal.

The Tribune reports the Cubs claimed Baltimore reliever Alex Burnett to replace Fujikawa in the bullpen.
